Most people hadn’t heard of this celebrity hangout years ago when it opened in 1998 and you could easily get a seat at 8565 Melrose Avenue either inside or out, but today you will probably have to wait a little while to enjoy the exclusive organic coffees, teas, or any of the other fine items served here.
The Setting
You must place your order at the counter and navigate your way around the crowd to find an empty seat to wait for its arrival. They have outside seating in the front where you can enjoy the many people walking by and also more private type outside seating in the back. There is seating inside if you prefer or if the weather is not good.
You could easily run into some celebrities or wannabes hanging out with their sunglasses and cell phones chatting endlessly and almost “posing” it seems. It is usually very crowded, but if you like being around the beautiful people, you will feel at home here.
The Food
They offer their own brand of premium, fresh roasted organic whole bean coffee. They have many hand picked fine teas that have undergone intense ethical and quality checks. The certified organic coffees and teas served here are 100% chemical free. You can get many of them either hot or cold and they are superb either way.
They also offer many selections of sandwiches, salads, muffins, pastries, deserts, and more. They have several options to pick from and even have many vegatarian-friendly choices. It doesn’t matter if you only want to enjoy one of the many great drinks while you people watch or a complete meal; they have something for everyone.
Restaurant Information
Their hours are Monday through Thursday from 6:30 AM to 11 PM and Saturday and Sunday form 6:30 AM to midnight. They do not take reservations, but you can contact them at 310-659-0628.
It is not a good place for large groups or small children. Valet parking is offered and street parking is hard to come by. You may have to make several trips around the block to find a spot, but it will be worth it in the end.
They are moderately priced and accept most major credit cards for payment. The prices may seem high, but you have to consider the quality of the food and drinks you are receiving.
This is a great place to meet your friends, that special someone or go alone. The large variety of drinks and food selections make it possible for all types to find something to order.
